Clive Cox’s exciting miler Kodi Bear is set to head straight to Ascot where he will lock horns with Solow in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on QIPCO British Champions Day.
Newmarket’s Joel Stakes had been an option before his big test next month, but Lambourn handler Cox is happy to let his three-year-old head straight to the Berkshire track without another run.
After injury ruled him out of the first part of the season, Kodi Bear has won three of his four outings, impressing in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood when running out a three-and-a-quarter-length winner last time out.
Cox has indicated that Kodi Bear will now step up into Group 1 company to take on French star Solow.
"Everything is fine with Kodi Bear," said Cox to the Press Association.
"It will be straight to Ascot with him for the QEII.
"We entered him for Newmarket but he’ll be going straight to Ascot."
