Frankel delivered a stunning performance to win the first race in the inaugural QIPCO 2000 Guineas at Newmarket yesterday afternoon, providing a memorable launch to the 35 race QIPCO British Champions Series that will throw the spotlight on the best of British Flat racing between now and the middle of October.
Chris McFadden, Chairman of British Champions Series, said:
“This was the dream start to the QIPCO British Champions Series with one of the most devastating big race victories in recent memory. It was a performance of Usain Bolt proportions, a momentous sporting moment that will hopefully transcend the normal boundaries of horseracing and resonate with a much wider audience.
“The Series is all about showcasing the very best of British Flat racing and Frankel looks the superstar to set the tone for the five and a half months that lie ahead. I am sure that he will light up several more Series races before we reach our new finale on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot on 15 October.
“Our promotional staff received a lot of positive feedback from racegoers and, with Newmarket’s crowd 11% up on last, we now look forward to the second race of the Series, the QIPCO 1000 Guineas.”
