Runaway Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe champion Treve could be set to head to Royal Ascot next year, according to her trainer Criquette Head-Maarek after the filly won the 2014 Cartier Horse of the Year award.
The three-year-old, who romped to a five-length success at Longchamp, is being lined up to take part in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes in 2014 – one of the leading contests of the British Champion Series’s Middle Distance division.
Her enthusiastic trainer, Head-Maarek, believes that the mile-and-a-quarter Group 1 race on the world’s most-prestigious stage would perfectly suit the unbeaten and versatile Treve.
She told At The Races: "She will have a prep race in France, maybe the Ganay, and then I’d like to go to Ascot during the Royal meeting. The Prince of Wales’s Stakes would be a good race for her.”
Treve will be looking to imitate Al Kazeem’s success this season in the Series, after the Roger Charlton-trained five-year-old not only took the Royal meeting’s Wednesday feature race, but also the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
The British Champions Series will get back underway for the 2014 campaign on the 4 May, where the QIPCO 2000 Guineas at Newmarket will kick start the summer’s top-class Flat action.
