The emergence of a potential QIPCO British Champions Series star may have taken place on All-Weather Championships Finals Day at Lingfield Park after Tryster swooped home in emphatic fashion to claim the Coral Easter Classic.
Sent off the short odds-on favourite, the Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old made ground stylishly off of Lingfield Park’s famous sweeping bend in the closing stages to win cosily.
Tryster, who is owned by Godolphin, was Timeform-rated 127 after the performance, two pounds less than two-time Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Treve on 129.
Another future Series contender may well have been given a plinth to shine on All-Weather Championships Finals Day as Pretend was well in command when winning the Unibet All-Weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes.
Also trained by Appleby, the leading sprint contests in the British Champions Series have been nominated as early season targets for the four-year-old.
