Impressive juvenile Limato has been declared with 18 rivals for the first running of the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot on Friday.
Henry Candy’s three-year-old, who romped to victory at the Berkshire track on his seasonal reappearance, will face a new wave of sprinters vying for the brand new Group 1 title.
Of those set to line up, Richard Hannon’s QIPCO 1000 Guineas third Tiggy Wiggy, rapid speedster Adaay and Edward Lynam’s Royal winner Anthem Alexander are among the main contenders for the six-furlong contest.
Another Royal Ascot champion bidding to win for the second year in a row is American raider Hootenanny, who also won at the Breeders’ Cup Festival in 2014.
Commonwealth Cup declarations:
Adaay, Ahlan Emarati, Cyclogenisis, El Valle, Goken, Home of The Brave, Hootenanny, Jungle Cat, Kool Kompany, Limato, Muhaarar, Profitable, Salt Island, Anthem Alexander, New Providence, Pastoral Girl, Tendu and Tiggy Wiggy.
