Hot favourite Idaho is one of 15 colts left in the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster on Saturday.

Placed in the Investec Derby at Epsom and the Irish equivalent, the Aidan O’Brien-trained three-year-old was a taking winner of the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last time out.

O’Brien,seeking a fifth win in the final Classic of the British season, has six other entries to juggle in the QIPCO British Champions Series contest

The Ballydoyle maestro, who has already landed eight winners in the Series this year, can also call on Sword Fighter, Housesofparliament, Kellstorm, The Major General, Triplicate and Unicorn.

The most runners he has saddled in the St Leger is five, in 2008, when none of his team managed to finish in the first three.

Jim Bolger could run Twilight Payment in the Godolphin colours, while Pat Shanahan has left in The Tartan Spartan.

John Gosden may have ruled out Dante winner Wings Of Desire but still has a solid contender in Muntahaa, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

Ed Dunlop’s Red Verdon has run a series of good races at the highest level this season, most recently when second in the Grand Prix de Paris.

Richard Hannon’s Ventura Storm has been a revelation stepped up in trip for Middleham Park Racing and was an easy winner of a Group Three in France last time out.
