QIPCO British Champions Day 2020 to be a World Pool Event

QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot racecourse on 17th October will be a World Pool event. Following an agreement with the Hong Kong Jockey Club and UK Tote Group, the six races on the day will form part of a global betting pool leading to greater liquidity as racing fans from around the world bet into a single pool on British racing’s richest race meeting.

Twenty leading racing nations, including the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, South Africa and the US will bet into a single pool which, at this year’s Royal Ascot, led to far greater liquidity for racing fans, with wagers growing almost 50% from £92.2 million in 2019 to £137 million this year.

Rod Street, Chief Executive of British Champions Series said, “QIPCO British Champions Day is a world-class raceday with a strong international reach. Our partnership through Racecourse Media Group with the Hong Kong Jockey Club extends that reach and enables customers to bet into a sizeable pool with attractive products. We’re excited about the potential and delighted to partner with Hong Kong Jockey Club’s World Pool.”

Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club said, ”We are delighted to be partnering with British Champions Series, Racecourse Media Group and UK Tote Group in extending the World Pool for another major international racing event.”

Alex Frost, Chief Executive of UK Tote Group said, “This is a really positive development. We are delighted to be able to work alongside the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Ascot Racecourse, British Champions Series and Racecourse Media Group to showcase QIPCO British Champions Day to a UK and international racing audience via the Tote and illustrate the role pool wagering can play going forward. We hope it will be another wonderful day of British racing.”

Nick Mills, Commercial Director of Racecourse Media Group, said, “RMG is delighted to play its part in ensuring QIPCO British Champions Day is a World Pool event. We look forward to working with British Champions Series in delivering a truly worldwide betting audience through the Hong Kong Jockey Club and our international network of pool operators. RMG is excited about showcasing more World Pool events from RMG courses over the coming years.”
