Attention turns to the Fillies on Sunday as they battle out for QIPCO 1000 Guineas glory on the Rowley Mile. The Cheveley Park-owned Inspiral had been a longtime ante-post favourite for the Classic, as John Gosden looked to land his first victory in the race. However, Sunday’s admission from the race left it wide open, with a field of 16 holding firm at the entry point.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Tenebrism assumed favouritism, and it would be no surprise if she won for her mastermind trainer. She was mightily impressive at the track back in September when storming home to win the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes, despite looking beaten two furlongs out. A win for O’Brien would give him an impressive fourth successive QIPCO 1000 Guineas, and could have two more Fillies in his armoury, with Tuesday and Toy both entered.

Cachet was a commanding winner of the Neil Gwyn two weeks previous, and looks to have mastered the Rowley Mile, finishing in the top three of her four starts at the track. She looks set to represent trainer George Boughey in the race, who said: “I’d be pretty hopefully she stays the mile, she is a very well-balanced filly and she loves it at Newmarket”.
French trainer Andre Fabre won the race with the aptly named, Miss France, and has Zellie entered in Sunday’s Classic. Fabre could be joined by compatriot, Francis-Henri Graffard, who might have Malavath in his armoury. With a strong arm in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas, Charlie Appleby looks set to have Wild Beauty lined up in the race, after a late entry following the admission of Inspiral.
Sunday brings a close to the QIPCO Guineas Festival, and marks just the second race in the QIPCO British Champions Series.
