Trueshan completes Long Distance hat-trick after seeing off Coltrane

Trueshan

Hollie Doyle partnered staying-star Trueshan to victory in the QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup after an almighty battle with Coltrane. In doing so they made history to become the first horse to win three races on QIPCO British Champions Day.

Doyle settled her mount in midfield and with David Probert and Coltrane seem to cover their tracks. Both horses hit the front to tussle out for the Group 2 spoils.

That was nerve-racking

His trainer Alan King said: “That was nerve-racking. We’d been pretty happy with him in the last couple of weeks. The ground was right today.”

“The second horse kept battling. He wasn’t stopping and he kept coming back at us, so he had to be right up there to hold him off. I didn’t enjoy watching it but I’ll enjoy the replay.”

The win took Doyle up to 91 winners for the season and credited Trueshan’s trainer, Alan King by saying: “Alan King has made this horse, what he has done today off the back of his last two runs is phenomenal.”
