Lady Bowthorpe brings the house down in the Qatar Nassau Stakes

Lady Bowthorpe wins the Nassau Stakes

Lady Bowthorpe delivered a sublime performance down the Goodwood straight to win the Qatar Nassau Stakes, giving jockey Kieran Shoemark his first Group 1.

Very few horses will receive a welcome to the Goodwood winner’s enclosure as the William Jarvis mare. A horse with an incredible story and a wonderful attitude. Similarly, her jockey Kieran Shoemark whose troubles are well documented, was justly rewarded for his hard work and the loyalty shown by owner and music mogul Emma Banks, with his first Group 1 victory.

During the race the pace was dictated by Ryan Moore and favourite Joan Of Arc, who took them along at a medium gallop. Lady Bowthorpe and Audarya content to settle at the back. However, push came to shove with three furlongs out as the pace quickened in the straight.

It was Lady Bowthorpe however who showed the best turn of foot, and quickly accelerated past Zeyaadah and Joan Of Arc. The result then looked a formality as no challengers from the back emerged.

The stands erupted as Shoemark drove Lady Bowthorpe comfortably home, showing that the extra furlong was no issue.
