Brilliant Baaeed Extends Unbeaten Run

There’s no doubt the sky is the limit for the William Haggas-trained Baaeed. The four year old extended his unbeaten run to seven races after a convincing win in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

The Al Shaqab Lockinge was the fourth race in the 2022 QIPCO British Champions Series with Baaeed the hot favourite to extend his winning streak. The 4-9 market leader made short work of eight rivals in the mile showpiece.

Baaeed never looked troubled and after jockey Jim Crowley asked for more late in the race, he kicked clear for a three and a quarter length win. Real World finished second while Chindit kept on to take third.

The Queen Anne Stakes, which opens Royal Ascot, is the obvious next choice for Baaeed. Back in 2012 winner Frankel confirmed his status as the world’s greatest racehorse with another scintillating display to win by 11 lengths. Many will wonder if Baaeed can become one of the all-time greats.
