QIPCO British Champions Series (QBCS) will sponsor a set of maiden races this autumn to help strengthen the two-year-old programme in Great Britain.
The four races will boost the roster of high-value developmental races announced by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) earlier in the year and will be run at the QBCS racecourses of Doncaster, Goodwood, Newbury and York. Each race will be run for a total prize fund of £30,000.
The programme of races offers enhanced prize money to horses at the beginning of their careers as well as assisting longer-term objectives of supporting the domestic breeding industry and ensuring more quality young horses who are bred in Britain are retained races here.
The QIPCO British Champions Series-sponsored maidens are scheduled from late-August to October and will hopefully provide a springboard for contenders going on to compete in the 2024 Series, which off at the QIPCO 2000 Guineas in May.

David Redvers, QIPCO’s representative and Racing Manager to Qatar Racing, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this initiative to boost prize money for developmental races and enhance the competitiveness of the British racing and breeding industries.
“QIPCO has been a committed and proud promoter of British racing over the past 13 years and this demonstrates further support to improve the race programme and provide benefits to owners and breeders.”
Gregg Taylor, Marketing Director of British Champions Series, said:
“The high-value developmental race programme is a great initiative to support owners and breeders and we are proud to contribute to a programme already receiving extensive support from the likes of Darley and Juddmonte.
We are incredibly grateful to QIPCO for their continue multi-million pound investment in British racing and also our British Champions Series partner racecourses for their support.”
Richard Wayman, Chief Operating Officer for the BHA, said:
“Well-funded development races provide an opportunity to boost returns to owners in the early stages of their horse’s career, thereby potentially supporting the yearling market and, in doing so, assisting breeders at all levels.
We are extremely grateful to QIPCO British Champions Series adding their support to this important part of the race programme.”
