No less than five QIPCO British Champions Series stars were featured in the 2023 Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings.

Supremely talented Japanese star Equinox was recognised as the standout performer in the annual Longines-sponsored list as he completed a flawless campaign with a rating of 135.

Ace Impact and Mostahdaf finished as Europe’s top two highest rated horses of 2023, with a joint rating of 128. The latter delivered back-to-back Group 1 wins in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Juddmonte International Stakes at York racecourse.

Fellow QIPCO British Champions Series winners including Big Rock, Paddington and Hukum earned their places in the top 10. Additionally, three of the top four rated fillies in the world were also trained in Britain in Emily Upjohn, Inspiral and Nashwa, all hailing from the stable of John & Thady Gosden.

British Races Ranked Among World’s Best

Both The Juddmonte International Stakes and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes featured among the top 10 races. Mostahdaf’s impressive triumph on the Knavesmire against a competitive field, saw him beat fellow 2023 QIPCO British Champions Series winners Paddington and Nashwa.

The rankings are compiled by an international committee, which is co-chaired by Nigel Gray and Dominic Gardiner-Hill, and they are published by the IFHA.
