Just 24 hours until lift off!

Just 24 hours to go and the sense of anticipation is growing!

No less than six of the world’s best nine racehorses will be contesting the two big races on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot tomorow, with a glittering line up of equine stars gracing all five championship races as the inaugural QIPCO British Champions Series reaches its pulsating climax.

The world’s best racehorse, Frankel, who will run in the £1m Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, is joined by Excelebration in by far the richest mile race ever run in Europe.

In the £1.3m QIPCO Champion Stakes, the richest race ever run in Britain, Nathaniel, So You Think, Cirrus Des Aigles and Twice Over are also all in the world’s top nine this year based on official ratings.

Only Australian sprint star, Black Caviar, second in the world behind Frankel, together with the retired Canford Cliffs and the sadly dead Rewilding are missing.

Godolphin run five horses on the day, including Dubai Prince and Casamento in the £1.3m QIPCO Champion Stakes and the well fancied Opinion Poll in the opening QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup, and their racing manager, Simon Crisford, said last night:

“It’s an outstanding card. Each of the five Group races is packed full of quality and the QEII and Champion Stakes, which has fantastic strength in depth, are exceptional.

“The first QIPCO British Champions Day looks like living up to all our hopes and expectations and providing a wonderful advertisement for Flat racing in this country.”

Gates open at 11am and the Legends Autograph Session is at 12.45pm, including Lester Piggott, Willie Carson, Joe Mercer, Pat Eddery, Kevin Darley, Hayley Turner and Johnny Murtagh.

Joey, the equine star of War Horse, comes face to face with dual Cheltenham Festival winner and HEROS ambassador Monsignor at 1pm.

Matt Chapman, Robert Cowell and Simon Clare will run through the six British Champions Day races in the Paddock at 1.10pm, trying to give you a few pointers towards finding a winner.

Then it’s straight into the first of the big races with the QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup at 1.50pm.

Fantastic weather is forecast with unbroken sunshine set to beat down on Ascot – it’s going to be a day of unbeatable action on the track!

You can win thousands of pounds worth of items from great British brands by texting in your winners for each race and the totejackpot could be as high as £1/2m if it’s not won at Wolverhampton tonight.

If the bet is won this evening, then there will be a guaranteed minimum payout of £100,000 on the totejackpot at Ascot.

“QIPCO British Champions Day is the richest fixture this country has ever seen and with a potential £500,000 up for grabs on the totejackpot, punters will also have a chance of landing a life-changing amount of money,” said Betfred boss Fred Done, who bought the Tote earlier this year.

So come along to Ascot for the racing expeience of a lifetime! Grandstand tickets at £26 will be available at the gate.
