There is one certainty in the Ladbrokes St Leger on Saturday – that a jockey who has not previously won the race will be successful.

George Baker, Graham Lee, Oisin Murphy and Donnacha O’Brien will be riding in the race for the first time.

Between them, the other five jockeys have taken part 14 times without being victorious: Seamie Heffernan, Colm O’Donaghue, Paul Hanagan, Phillip Makin and Stobart Flat Champion Jockey Silvestre De Sousa

O’Donoghue left Town Moor last year thinking he had won on Bondi Beach, but had victory taken away 11 days later after an appeal by the connections of Simple Verse, who had been first past the post but was demoted.

He was also second on Midas Touch in 2010.
