The Tin Man ruled out of Hong Kong Sprint with fever

The Tin Man has been ruled out of Sunday’s Longines Hong Kong Sprint because of a reported fever.

The dual QIPCO British Champions Series winner, who won the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in the summer, was due to represent James Fanshawe in the Group One event over six furlongs at Sha Tin.

However, the Hong Kong Jockey Club has announced the five-year-old Equiano gelding will miss the race.

A statement on www.hkjc.com read: “Dr Peter Curl, executive manager, veterinary regulation has advised the stewards that The Tin Man, trained by Mr James Fanshawe and entered to run in the Hong Kong Sprint, presented with a fever after arriving in Hong Kong.

“After discussing the horse’s condition with Mr Fanshawe, it has been decided the horse will not be suitable to compete in the stated race and accordingly The Tin Man has been officially withdrawn from the Hong Kong Sprint.”
