Newbury the focus for the final QIPCO Guineas trials

Two more cracking trials for the QIPCO 2000 and 1000 Guineas take place at Newbury on Saturday.

Hot Snap shot to the head of the betting for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas after her sparkling victory in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket on Wednesday, while Toronado staked his claim to the QIPCO 2000 Guineas with his impressive Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes triumph on Thursday.

Will we see something equally special at Newbury?

The unbeaten Rosdhu Queen will be the focus of attention in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Stakes, the big QIPCO 1000 Guineas trial.

The William Haggas-trained filly won her four races last year, including the Group 1 Shadwell Cheveley Park Stakes, but she has yet to race beyond six furlongs. Saturday’s race is over seven furlongs, while the QIPCO 1000 Guineas is over a mile.

The Richard Hannon-trained Maureen, who disappointed when favourite for the Cheveley Park, is probably her biggest rival in a ten runner field on Saturday.

In the Group 3 Aon Greenham Stakes, the QIPCO 2000 Guineas trial, just five go to post with two top class horses likely to dominate.

The Richard Hannon-trained Olympic Glory won all his races bar the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot when Dawn Approach, the hot favourite for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas, just got the better of him. He runs in the same colours as Toronado.

Up against him is Moohaajim, trained by Marco Botti, who was narrowly defeated in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes.

It could be quite a battle between them, though Moohaajim has yet to race beyond six furlongs and now must tackle seven for the first time.
