Dawn Approach on course for final clash with Toronado

Dawn Approach is being primed to revive his rivalry for the final time with Toronado in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday 19^th October.

The three-year-old, who has won the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas and the St James’s Palace Stakes this season, was last seen in Britain being out-battled by a game and resurgent Toronado in the QIPCO Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Since his defeat to Richard Hannon’s colt, he has run in the Prix Jacques le Marois – scoping badly following a lethargic display.

Subsequently, Dawn Approach has been given a well-deserved rest, with British Champions Day being the intended target for his career swansong.

His trainer, Jim Bolger, has now confirmed that he is being readied for a final battle with Toronado at Ascot on the 19^th October.

Bolger said: "He has scoped clean and, all being well, we’re looking to prepare him for the QEII.”
