QIPCO British Champions Series superstar Frankel has sired his first foal, after the dual Group-winning mare Chrysanthemum gave birth to a baby colt at Coolmore stud in Ireland.

The ‘handsome’ bay colt was born at 20:30 on Saturday 11th January 2014 and has been reported to be a foal with a good head, a white blaze and great presence.

Frankel, who is officially the highest-rated racehorse of all time, rose to prominence in the British Champions Series, recording 14 victories in an incredible unbeaten career.

The Sir Henry Cecil-trained six-year-old was successful in both the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and the QIPCO Champion Stakes on the 2011 and 2012 British Champions Days, respectively.

Juddmonte Farms General Manager, Philip Mitchell, commented: “From the reports that I have received Frankel’s first foal is everything we could have hoped for.

“These are very exciting times for everyone who has supported the horse and we much look forward to the rest of his first crop of foals.”

Chrysanthemum was the first mare scanned in foal to Frankel last year, and this is her first foal.
