Juddmonte International rated World’s best race

The Juddmonte International at York Racecourse, the sixth leg of the QIPCO British Champions Series Middle Distance division, has officially been ranked as the world’s best race by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA).
 
The race on the Knavesmire tops the international standings based on the performances of the first four horses past the post in the last three runnings of the race. In all, three of the world’s top five races are British, with a total of eight of the top 16 races taking place in the UK and all forming part of the QIPCO British Champions Series. The QIPCO 2000 Guineas has been ranked the highest three-year-old race in the world.
 
Rod Street, Chief Executive of British Champions Series said: “Once again a British race has been named the top race in the world, underlining the calibre of British racing and its status as a leading horseracing destination. No country has more races in the top ten than Britain and each race forms part of the QIPCO British Champions Series reflecting the Series’ aims of promoting the very best of the sport.”
 
The 2015 Series kicks off at Newmarket on Saturday 2 May with the QIPCO 2000 Guineas and the full calendar can be viewed over on the Fixtures page.
 
There are two amendments to the calendar. The new Group 1 three-year-old sprint at Royal Ascot, the Commonwealth Cup has been included in place of the Betfred Temple Stakes at Haydock Park in the Sprint category.
 
In the Mile division, the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes, a Group 1 race, replaces the Group 2 Shadwell Joel Stakes meaning that all British Group 1 races for horses three years and upwards are now included in the Series.
