Spotlight on the 2015 Champions Series trainers

Where else to start the trainer talk than with the genius that is Aidan O’Brien, whose blue-blooded string will be targeting most, if not all, of the riches that the British Champions Series has to offer. With Ryan Moore more firmly attached to the team this year, there may be no stopping the Ballydoyle brigade in 2015.

But even with O’Brien’s army, it’s not easy to outflank the British generals on their own patch, and so expect more staunch defence from the likes of Richard Hannon, John Gosden, Sir Michael Stoute, Luca Cumani and William Haggas to name but a few of the established masters. And then there’s the bright young things making a name for themselves, David O’Meara for one having already got on the series scoreboard, with G Force last year, and there’s plenty more where that came from.

As with the horses and riders, though, there’s no resting on geographical laurels, the series not just a matter of Britain and Ireland, and the overseas trainers, from France and far beyond, are likely to be seen and heard more than ever before in 2015, such is the global game that racing now is, and such is the pull of the ever-exciting, ever-developing British Champions Series.
