Leading Investec Derby contender Jack Hobbs will now race in the royal blue silks of Godolphin after Sheikh Mohammed’s racing operation bought into the partnership that owns the colt.

The three-year-old, who also holds entries at Royal Ascot and in the Coral-Eclipse, will continue to be trained by John Gosden.

Jack Hobbs was last seen finishing second behind his mightily impressive stable mate Golden Horn in the Betfred Dante Stakes at York, after a runaway success in a Sandown Park handicap on his second start.

These performance have prompted Godolphin into a purchase.

Sheikh Mohammed’s bloodstock advisor John Ferguson said on www.godolphin.com: "Jack Hobbs has run just three times and has shown remarkable progression.

"John Gosden, who also trained his sire Halling for us, has a high opinion of the colt. He has loads of scope and class and looks like the kind of horse that will only improve with age."

Godolphin recently enjoyed QIPCO British Champions Series success with a bought established star, after Night of Thunder was victorious in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
