Snow Sky and Telescope deserve King George chance

Sir Michael Stoute believes his two-pronged attack for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in Snow Sky and Telescope deserve their chance against QIPCO British Champions Series star Golden Horn in Ascot’s feature contest this Saturday.

Telescope, who finished second behind Taghroooda last season, and the improving Royal Ascot champion Snow Sky head to the Berkshire track this weekend with a huge task ahead of them against John Gosden’s unbeaten Investec Derby and Coral-Eclipse champion.

However, Stoute is not afraid of the challenge that lies ahead for his stable stars.

The five-time winner of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes said: “We have great respect for the Derby winner (Golden Horn). He’s a very, very good horse, but we will take our chance against him.

“He (Snow Sky) seems in good shape. We’ve been happy with his preparations. We thought we were going to take another route with him, but after the Hardwicke performance we decided to supplement him (for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes).

“He (Telescope) likes Ascot. He’s run there very well in the past, winning the Hardiwcke Stakes very impressively and finishing second in the last year’s King George.

“Throughout his career, he has been a model of consistency. We feel we are entitled to take our chance.”
