Beautiful Romance is to be aimed at the QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot on QIPCO British Champions Day, accordng to trainer Saeed bin Suroor.

The daughter of New Approach will step up markedly in class for the Group 1 contest after running out a four-and-a-half-length winner of the August Stakes at Windsor on Saturday.

The highly regarded three-year-old has been unable to realise her potential so far on the track, but connections hope that will change on Saturday 17 October.

"The key to her is soft ground," said Bin Suroor. "When she won her maiden by nine lengths at Doncaster we had hopes she would be special, but when she was third in the Guineas trial (Nell Gwyn), the jockey (James Doyle) said she found the ground too fast.

"We’ll take her to Ascot next for the fillies’ race on Champions Day."
