Andre Fabre has nominated the QIPCO Champion Stakes on QIPCO British Champions Day as the hugely exciting Vadamos’ next target, after annihilating his rivals in an impressive Group 2 win in Germany on Thursday.

The four-year-old, who cantered to a five-length success at Baden-Baden, has been compared favourably to Fabre’s versatile 2007 Prince of Wales’s Stakes hero, Manduro.

Since the race, Vadamos has been well supported for the QIPCO Champion Stakes on Saturday 17 October and is now a 12/1 chance with bookmakers having previously been 33/1 earlier in the week.

Despite the star-studded entries – including Golden Horn, Jack Hobbs, Free Eagle, Postponed, Cirrus des Aigles and The Grey Gatsby among others – his trainer is still keen to test his French raider at Ascot next month.

“Ascot’s (QIPCO) Champion Stakes looks a good option,” he told the Racing Post. "He’s effective at all distances between a mile and a mile and a half and reminds me a lot of Manduro [who was by the same sire – Monsun].

"He’s entered in all the top Group 1 races. I shall have to talk things over with the owners, but Ascot’s Champion Stakes looks a good option."
