QIPCO 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes hero Gleneagles is being trained for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on QIPCO British Champions Day.

The three-year-old has not run since the Royal meeting due to unsatisfactory ground, but connections are hopeful that their star miler will appear at the European Flat season finale on Saturday 17 October.

Gleneagles’ trainer, Aidan O’Brien, told the Press Association: “He’s probably going to be trained for the mile race at Ascot (October 17).

“At the moment that’s what we are thinking.”

If the son of Galileo lines up on Champions Day, he is set to face a mouth-watering battle against Queen Anne Stakes and Qatar Sussex Stakes champion, Solow, as well as Clive Cox’s exciting star Kodi Bear and Andrew Balding’s Elm Park.
