Europe’s leading sprinter Muhaarar and Betfred Sprint Cup runner-up Strath Burn are in good health ahead of the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day, according to trainer Charlie Hills.

Muhaarar, who has won the Commonwealth Cup and Darley July Cup in the QIPCO British Champions Series this season, will join stable mate Strath Burn on Saturday 17 October for the newly-upgraded Group 1 contest.

Hills is in good spirits with Champions Day now less than three weeks away.

“I am very happy with Muhaarar, he has just been cantering since his last run [on August 9th] but I am going to take him to Lingfield for a racecourse gallop tomorrow [Thursday],” he said.

“He is a very straightforward horse with a great temperament and what he has already achieved is quite exceptional, winning three Group 1 races on the trot.

“Strath Burn looks fantastic in his coat and will take Muhaarar on in the QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes. I have always thought that he was a very good horse and he will be even better next year.”
