Golden Horn crowned 2015 Cartier Horse of the Year

QIPCO British Champions Series hero Golden Horn was crowned the 2015 Cartier Horse of the Year last night in London.

The Investec Derby and Coral-Eclipse champion, who also won the Irish Champion Stakes and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, was also the victor of the Three-Year-Old Colt accolade after his successful season.

John Gosden’s middle distance champion joins Frankel and Sea The Stars as dual winners in the same categories.

QIPCO British Champions Day winner Solow was crowned the 2015 Older Horse, after his superb displays in the Queen Anne Stakes, Qatar Sussex Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

Among the other awards, Champions Day hero Muhaarar was successful in winning the Sprinter gong, QIPCO 1000 Guineas and Qatar Nassau Stakes heroine Legatissimo won the Three-Year-Old Filly title and Simple Verse, the Ladbrokes St Leger and Champions Day star, reigned superior in the race for the Three-Year-Old Stayer award.

Aidan O’Brien’s Classic contenders Minding and Air Force Blue won the Two-Year-Old Colt and Two-Year-Old Filly categories, respectively.
