Found finds her true form at Curragh

Found wins at the Curragh

Found looks certain to be a significant player in a variety of middle-distance QIPCO British Champions Series contests this summer after an easy success in the Camelot European Breeders Fund Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh today.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly had been below-par in the mud on her return but was back to her best in the five-runner Group 3 contest as she came from last under a confident Ryan Moore to first to overhaul front-running Success Days and win by a length and a quarter.

“I didn’t think she had come forward as much, but she obviously did,”  said O’Brien. “She’s still not there and hopefully she’s something to look forward to.

“The plan was the last day, this race and then the Tattersalls [Gold Cup]. Then we might look at the Coronation [Cup], but that’s not definite.

“She’d get a break and then have one or two runs before the Arc.”

Fascinating Rock started the 11-10 favourite, having beaten Found in the QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot in October, but possibly needed the outing and was another two and a half lengths back in third.

Moore initially had to stop riding when the gap he was exploring between Success Days and Fascinating Rock closed about a furlong and a half out, but Found, sent off at 11-8, picked up readily to squeeze between the pair soon after and won with plenty left in the tank.

In addition to the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom, her future entries include the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
