Royal Ascot Tips

Esoterique – The Queen Anne Stakes

Andre Fabre’s six-year-old came close to beating Solow and Muhaarar last season and a return to that form would see her go close in what looks a weak renewal. She was beaten on her seasonal reappearance at Deauville earlier in the month but that should have put her spot on for this and she has form on soft ground, winning the Group 1 Jacques Le Marois last season and the Group 1 Prix Rothschild as a four-year-old.

Mecca’s Angel – The King’s Stand Stakes

With rain forecast the ground looks set to favour last year’s Nunthorpe Stakes winner Mecca’s Angel. Michael Dods’ five-year-old boasts an exceptional record when the going has soft in the description and has finished outside the top two on only four occasions in her 15-race career. She was beaten by Profitable on her seasonal reappearance but with that run under her belt, she is more than capable of reversing the form.

Galileo Gold – The St James’s Palace Stakes

Galileo Gold ran credibly on ground that clearly favoured the winner Awtaad in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and he was stuck for room on a couple of occasions but still ran through to the line. His performance in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket was superb and if he can repeat that he will be difficult to beat.

Found – The Prince of Wales’s Stakes
Found has been well campaigned this season, with this her fifth run and her third consecutive Group 1 race. She’s been beaten in her last two starts but her latest run in the Coronation Cup was promising and she was beaten by a potential superstar in Postponed. She got better as the season went on last year and could be value to down the colours of Japanese raider A Shin Hikari.

Order Of St George – The Gold Cup In Honour Of The Queen’s 90th Birthday

Order Of St George’s victory in last season’s Irish St Leger was one of the best staying performances we have seen for some time. He made some highly rated horses look ordinary and oozed class in the process. He made a satisfactory return at Leopardstown this month, which will have put him spot-on for this, and he could be the banker of the meeting.

Gifted Master – The Commonwealth Cup – (NR)
Quiet Reflection looked exceptional when beating Gifted Master in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last time out and is a rightful favourite for this 6f contest. However, Gifted Master’s strength is his stamina and a return to a stiff six furlongs should help him reverse the form.

Jet Setting – The Coronation Stakes
Jet Setting was superb when beating dual Classic winner Minding in the Irish 1,000 Guineas last time, with the pair finishing a long way clear of their rivals. That is by far the best form in this contest and it’s hard to see her getting beat with conditions in her favour.

Twilight Son – The Diamond Jubilee Stakes

Although defeated by the progressive Magical Memory at York last time out, Twilight Son was conceding 5lb and found himself on the wrong part of the track at a crucial point in the race. With that run behind him, as well as being back on level terms, he is the one they all have to beat.
