Ride the Juddmonte International Course with Paul Mulrennan

Leading northern rider and Champions Series winner, Paul Mulrennan, who lives in North Yorkshire, takes us through how to ride the Juddmonte International Course.

Mulrennan’s biggest career win came at the Ebor Festival 12 months ago when steering Mecca’s Angel – trained by local trainer Michael Dods – to Group 1 success in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes, part of the QIPCO British Champions Series.

The feature race of York’s season, the Juddmonte International, is rated the best race in Britain and boasts an impressive collection of winners in recent years including, Australia and wonder-horse Frankel. It was also the scene of the shock result when odds-on favourite Golden Horn was turned over by 50-1 shot Arabian Queen.

14 horses have stood their ground at the five-day entry stage, including this year’s Coral-Eclipse winner Hawkbill, the winner of the Prince of Wales’s Stakes My Dream Boat, the Coronation Cup winner Postponed and the winner of this year’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (sponsored by QIPCO) Highland Reel.
