For the second time in three years, Ryan Moore was today named the Longines World’s Best Jockey.
Moore, who won a mammoth 10 British Champions Series races over the course of this season, was awarded the title after also winning eight of the world’s top 100 Group or Grade 1 races across five different countries, including Minding’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes win on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot.
The points awarded for victories in the qualifying races, as well as those for his nine second place finishes and his quartet of third-place finishes, meant Moore ended up with 166 points – giving him the largest winning margin in the history of the award.
Fellow Champions Day winner Christophe Soumillon, who partnered Almanzor to success at Ascot, finished second with 98 points whilst Australian jockey Hugh Bowman, who regularly partners Winx, finished in third.
Moore will be crowned at an event in Hong Kong on the 9th December. Full details about the points and award can be found at www.ifhaonline.org.
