Limato is in “marvellous form” ahead of his return in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan on Dubai World Cup night.

The Henry Candy-trained five-year-old promises to be one of the stars in the sprinting category of this year’s QIPCO British Champions Series, having won the Darley July Cup in great style last year and also finished runner-up in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes.

Candy said over the weekend: “He’s in marvellous form and the plan would be to go for the Al Quoz Sprint on March 25.

“We went west in the autumn, but that didn’t work so we’ll go east in the spring and see if that does. I’ve not had a runner out there, but I have been out.

“I think the horse will be fit enough, he’ll have just the usual prep and go out eight days before.”

He added: “Luckily it’s on the grass, over six furlongs and it’s a Group One. I think we’ll stick to sprinting now unless anything untoward happens.

“I’m still convinced he stays a mile, but every time we try something goes wrong with the ground or the way the race is run and when you see what he did in the July Cup, I think that’s what we should stick with.”
