Quiet Reflection books ticket for Champions Day

Karl Burke is relishing running Quiet Reflection in the QIPCO British Champions Sprint at Ascot on October 21 after she got back to winning ways in great style at Naas on Sunday.

The four-yearold filly was a dual winner in the Series last year, landing the Commonwealth Cup and 32Red Sprint Cup, but had disappointed at Haydock in May and not been seen in action since.

However, Burke’s pre-race confidence was justified as Quiet Reflection,sent off at 5-2, put her rivals in the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes firmly in their place under Martin Harley.

She won by almost three lengths and Paddy Power responded by cutting her to 8-1 from 16-1 for her Champions Day assignment, when she will face Harry Angel and Caravaggio.

“We had to take our time with her and it’s just a shame that things didn’t go right early on (in the year),” Burke said. “Hopefully she comes out of this well and roll on four weeks for Ascot. If the ground comes up soft she will give Harry Angel a race.

“On soft ground this filly is very good and she can only sharpen up for that run. Win, lose or draw she has been an absolute star for us, and it’s just great to get her back.

“She heads to Tattersalls in December. That’s where she’ll go after Ascot. We will be able to float her into Ascot now. We won’t have to push her at all and can give her a nice easy week or two and then pick her up for a week or so.

“She has a great temperament and has been a pleasure to be around.”
