QIPCO British Champions Series is further extending its commitment to engage youngsters in horse racing with a new kids dedicated Fan Zone to be introduced at Haydock Park Racecourse.

As in 2017, Newmarket Racecourses will kick off the 2018 Series’ activity at the QIPCO Guineas Festival on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th May. Young racegoers will find a whole host of fun and educational activities in the Fan Zone, located on the Boulevard Lawn near the Grandstand & Paddock Entrance.

Then, on Saturday 26th May, Haydock Park Racecourse will welcome the Fan Zone activity to its ‘Family Day with the Forces’ race day.

These early season activity days, which were inaugurated last year as an addition to the existing activity on QIPCO British Champions Day, aim to engage the younger generation in horseracing towards the beginning of the summer and encourage them to nurture their interest during the Series.

The activities on offer give youngsters the opportunity to discover and learn about the sport and to earn their Horseracing Certificate by attending a bitesize lesson at the Jockey School, meeting an ex-racehorse, learning about the tack and kit used for racing and completing a behind-the-scenes tour of the racecourse. In addition, Pony Club members will get the chance to earn their Intro to Pony Racing badge.

There will also be opportunities to learn about career prospects within racing, such as Pony Racing and further education at the British Racing School or Northern Racing College. A wide range of organisations are involved in delivery the activity, including Careers In Racing, Racing To School and the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art.

A ticket promotion is available to parents who wish to bring children along to the days at Newmarket or Haydock. Under 18s go free to racecourses across the UK, including Newmarket Racecourses and Haydock Park Racecourse.
