Kachy cut for King’s Stand Stakes after Lingfield demolition

Kachy was cut to a general 12-1 (from 20-1) for the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot after recording a dazzling victory in the Betway All-Weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes at Lingfield on Good Friday.

Making a flying start from the stalls, the 4-9 favourite blazed a trail under Richard Kingscote as he gained compensation for his defeat in the six-furlong prize 12 months ago.

Trainer Tom Dascombe said: “He has always been a horse that has a fast reaction and is very quick into his stride and that’s why we let him make the running, as that’s his strength.

“He was three lengths clear after a hundred yards. Richard is brilliant out of the stalls and the horse really helps. He is half-asleep most of the time, but when the stalls open he is gone.

“There is no point trying to take him back. He never saw another horse and it was comfortable.

“He has to be a better horse this year and he looks it. He has the highest rating he has ever had.”

He added: “The Temple Stakes (Group Two, Haydock) would be the obvious (next) target.”

The King’s Stand Stakes is the first race in the Sprint category of this year’s QIPCO British Champions Series. Blue Point and Battaash head the ante-post betting at 4-1 and 6-1 respectively.
