Royal Ascot to be run behind closed doors

Ascot racecourse confirmed that they have reached the “unavoidable conclusion” that Royal Ascot 2020 will not be able to take place as an event open to the public.

Plans to run Royal Ascot races behind closed doors are being put in place but naturally remain dependent on Government and public health policy and BHA approval of the re-start of Flat racing.

The five-day meeting, attended daily by Her Majesty The Queen since is still due to commence on Tuesday June 16th and usually attracts about 300,000 racegoers from all over the world.

This news comes shortly after it was also revealed the Jockey Club will be rescheduling the first four Classics of the year.
