Third time lucky for Battaash as he blows away rivals to claim King’s Stand

Battaash barely saw another rival as he landed the King’s Stand Stakes at the third attempt – having been runner-up in each of the last two renewals

The mercurial star was sent off the odds-on favourite, the multiple Group 1 winner well clear of his rivals on official ratings. However, any lingering doubts subsided at around the half way stage as Battaash had asserted a strong lead with his rivals beginning to feel the pinch.

It was then a case of jockey Jim Crowley pushing the button after which Battash extended his lead in the style of a brilliant horse. The race was put to bed with a furlong left to run. The victory really underlining his credentials as one of the world’s very best sprinters.

For the minor honours, equally enigmatic stablemate Equilateral picked up 2nd late on, just ahead of the well supported Liberty Beach.
