Cox to set sail over further with My Dream Boat

My Dream Boat

Clive Cox is keen to try My Dream Boat over a mile and a half this summer.

The five-year-old, said to have done well over the winter, was a regular over a mile and a quarter in the QIPCO British Champions Series last season – winning the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot before finishing fifth in the Coral-Eclipse and fourth in the QIPCO Champion Stakes.

He also finished a staying-on fifth in the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown in between those last two efforts.

“After the way he finished off in the Champion Stakes both in Ireland and England, we are keen on exploring the possibility of going a little further with him,” Cox said at Kempton on Monday.

“He started at Sandown in the Gordon Richards last year and that’s again our intended target to get going with him.”

Cox is also looking forward to seeing Profitable, his King’s Stand Stakes winner, back in action. The speedster has been purchased by Godolphin.

“I’m thrilled he’s still in training and racing for Godolphin this year,” Cox said. “He was amazing at the start of last year and because he didn’t win after Royal Ascot he does not have a penalty to start with this year. We are looking forward to getting cracking with him.”

On the strength of his team overall, the trainer added: “It’s probably as strong a team as we’ve ever had.”
