Enable aims to keep up family tradition in King George

Enable will be one of only two runners in the QIPCO-sponsored King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday with no experience of having run at Ascot but, to judge by her pedigree, it will not be a problem.

Her sire, Nathaniel, won the 2011 King George and was beaten by a nose, by Danedream, when defending his crown a year later. On his only other start at Ascot, he finished a gallant third behind Frankel in the 2012 QIPCO Champion Stakes. Nathaniel’s own sire was Galileo, who won the 2001 King George.

Concentric, the dam of Enable, raced exclusively in France but she herself was sired by Sadler’s Wells, runner-up in the 1984 King George.

Sixties Song, the raider from South America, is the only other in the line-up who will be running at Ascot for the first time.
