Fantastic Frankel all set to make history at York

Frankel heads to York next week in a quest to stretch his stunning unbeaten run to 13 and to ensure his legacy as the best racehorse of a generation.

Sir Henry Cecil’s superstar has continued to wow racegoers this year with superlative performances in the JLT Lockinge at Newbury, Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot and QIPCO Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Now, however, he will face arguably the toughest challenge of his career as he steps up to tackle a mile and a quarter for the first time against a classy field of experienced middle distance performers in the Juddmonte International.

Not only could he face opposition from his stablemate and last year’s winner of the race, Twice Over, but Coral-Eclipse hero Nathaniel is also entered in York’s richest ever race, along with Coronation Cup winner St Nicholas Abbey. The last-named runner will be bidding at the Knavesmire to enhance his great record of five wins from six starts when racing left-handed.

In aid of the penultimate opportunity to see him on the track, Frankel has become the first racehorse to have his own TV commercial. The 20-second TV advert will run in peak slots on ITV Yorkshire over the weekend of 18th and 19th August to promote the significance of Frankel’s race at York and to encourage viewers to visit the track in order to see him in action before it’s too late.
