Acapulco will be aimed at the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June after being switched to the yard of Aidan O’Brien from that of Wesley Ward.

The flying filly provided one of the highlights of the royal meeting in 2015 when making all in the Queen Mary Stakes and then beat all bar Mecca’s Angel in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

However, she has not been seen on British shores since and ran only three times last year – winning on the first two occasions but disappointing when beaten over six and a half furlongs at Santa Anita in November.

“She is a very fast filly who would look made for the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot,” O’Brien told the Racing Post.

O’Brien enjoyed ten triumphs in the Champions Series last year and has won big races all over the world, but the King’s Stand Stakes has so far eluded him.

Once her racing days are finished, Acapulco will be covered by Coolmore super sire Galileo.
