SHUTTER SPEED

Trainer: John Gosden
Form: 1

It was wholly appropriate that the judge should be required to determine whether Shutter Speed had won on her debut at Yarmouth.

Out of Photographic, with a half-brother called Cameraman, it was almost written in the stars that she should be involved in a tight finish that required a print to determine whether she had won or not.

It showed that Shutter Speed, sent off at 5-1 and ridden by Frankie Dettori, had got up in the final strides to prevail by a neck in the mile maiden for fillies.

The form is not easy to assess, especially as not all the 13 runners coped with the soft ground, but there was a lot to like about the way the Prince Khalid Abdullah-owned filly went about her work.

And the effort probably needs marking up because John Gosden said afterwards that the daughter of Dansili would prefer better ground and had gone in her coat.

The trainer also believes she will stay a mile and a quarter.

A mile and a half? Her pedigree casts some doubt but, regardless, it would be no surprise if she makes her mark at a higher level.

She is 33-1 for the Investec Oaks at Epsom on June 2.
